Education for small business owners and creatives on how to show up and show out online.
This wasn’t your typical website build. This build meant more than that. This website build was a challenge. In a good way! With every website and branding project that I take on, I put my all into it. Often, I work beyond the scope of the project because I’m too excited to slow down. Kacy Poore Photography reached out to me and wanted a website to showcase her talent as a photographer.
All of my custom website design and branding packages start with a get-to-know-you session and filling out some questionnaires. These questionnaires give me an inside look into what my client needs. Kacy said that she wanted a light and airy vibe with muted colors so her images would stand out. Here’s a closer look into what Kacy was hoping for with her website,
• Sections to display testimonials
• Creative website that isn’t rigid
• Easy-to-use navigation
• Intuitive contact form
• Responsive for multiple screen sizes
• Interactive elements
Since Kacy gave me full freedom to be as creative as I wanted with her website, I mostly started from scratch. ShowIt gives me the option to use templates or site canvases I’ve created before, but this was a type of website that I haven’t built before. We used curves, boxes, gifs, and watercolor elements to keep the user’s interest. Here are some other ways I began setting up her website in ShowIt,
Many clients that come to me are small businesses that haven’t updated their brand in years or are starting fresh. I have some great questionnaires that help make sense of what is in your brain and pull it out to create a visible brand. Kacy needed a new logo, fonts, and colors. I pulled from her Instagram account and the websites she liked to create unique colors and fonts that are uniquely her. For her logo, we went through a few designs before landing on the whimsical script font.
Getting the website up with ShowIt was easy in theory, but there was one hurdle. Kacy had previously used ShowIt and had a live website. We just had to chat with ShowIt customer service for a bit and they got it fixed for us! From there we linked GoDaddy to her website and let ShowIt we were ready for them to add the SSL certificate.
All of my clients become my favorite, but I absolutely LOVED working on Kacy’s website. My favorite part was hearing how much Kacy loved the designs and provided minimal feedback. This wasn’t because she didn’t know what she wanted, but this was because she really did feel completely aligned with the designs chosen. Here are some other parts I loved about her website,
